You may have heard the saying “Data is the new Oil”, but how many times have you really questioned this?
The catchy phrase may be trying to indicate that we have a Data economy vs an Oil economy, or maybe it’s that Data is the lubricant of modern business, or maybe that there are Data “mega firms” that control much of our lives like the Oil megafirms once did. However, while it is a whimsical catchphrase, the analogy is dangerous and risks spreading misunderstanding on all counts…
The webinar will intend to compare Data as an asset to other assets including Oil, and to find a better comparison, shall Data NOT be the new Oil!
Our webinar will discuss the following topics:
Comparison between Data as an asset and other types of assets including oil
Assets characteristics and applicability to the data asset then with oil
If Data is not the new oil, what might it be better compared with?
