Course Content

  • PROJECT MAIN PHASES & ORGANIZATION - Duration : 0.5 Day

      • Asset lifecycle and stage gate process, from initial idea to start-up
      • Preliminary, conceptual and pre-project studies on client/sponsor side to justify the project and main deliverables.
      • Development sequence: strategy and Project Execution Plan (PEP).
  • INTEGRATION OF ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION MEASURES - Duration : 0.25 Day

      • Energy efficiency, CCUS, Alternative means of producing energy
  • selection of engineering contractors - Duration : 0.5 Day

      • Role of engineering contractors
      • Contracting strategy: project breakdown into contracts and main contract types
      • Tendering process and contract award
      • Company supplied items.
  • PROJECT ORGANIZATION - Duration : 0.5 Day

      • Client / Sponsor / Proponent and engineering contractor perspectives
      • Interactions between company's and contractor's team. Integrated project management team.
      • Human resources, organization charts, project manager’s role.
      • Interface management.
  • PROJECT CONTROL - Duration : 1.25 Days

      • Costs: estimation of facilities expenditures, budget elaboration, cost control, reporting. Claim management.
      • Planning and scheduling: schedule elaboration, progress control, recovery plan.
      • Quality assurance: control, and surveillance. Technical integrity management
      • Project risks management and relevant action plans.
  • Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) ACTIVITIES - Duration : 1.5 Days

      • Detailed studies: main deliverables per disciplines, project reviews, documentation control, management of changes, interface management (engineering disciplines, suppliers, yards).
      • Procurement activities: purchasing, expediting, inspection
      • Construction challenges: contractors and resources, (sub) contract types. Fabrication at yards. Construction at site. Interface with commissioning.
      • Completion activities: pre-commissioning, commissioning activities, hand-over and acceptance of the facilities.
      • Project close out and management of collective knowledge.
  • Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) MANAGEMENT HIGHLIGHTS - Duration : 0.5 Day

      • Tools and techniques for Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) design, project reviews, HSE concept.
      • HSE during construction phase, HSE indicators.
