Who should attend?

  • This course covers an overview of fundamental knowledge in drilling and completion, and the various pressure in the well. It also provides the fundamentals knowledge in order to follow the intensive training program “Drilling & Completion Engineering”.

  • Young engineers involved in drilling and completion, supervisors and tool pushers.

  • Basic technical knowledge in the Oil & Gas industry.

Course Content

  • INITIAL TEST - Duration : 0.5 Day

      • General knowledge about drilling and completion.
  • CAUSES OVERBURDEN PRESSURE, PORE PRESSURE, FRAC PRESSURE - Duration : 1 Day

      • Definitions.
      • Causes of abnormal pore pressure.
      • Detection of abnormal pore pressure.
      • Determination of frac pressure, LOT.
  • DRILLING FUNDAMENTALS - Duration : 1 Day

      • Principle of drilling, functions of the drilling fluid, well architecture.
      • Casing cementing.
      • Wellhead and safety.
  • HYDRODYNAMICS APPLIED TO WELL - Duration : 2 Days

      • Hydrostatic pressure, pressure losses.
      • Relation between static and circulating well pressures.
  • KNOWLEDGE ASSESSMENT

Learning Objectives

  • Attendees will be able to implement the following skills:
  • Describe the basic notions about hydrostatic and hydrodynamic,
  • Carry out well pressures calculations,
  • Explain the fundamentals of drilling techniques,
  • Assess uncertainties with regard to pressure measured while drilling,
  • Explain the reaction of gaseous with regard of gaseous influx encountered while drilling.
