Who should attend?
This training is part of a professional carrier development to managerial positions in dowstream business, requiring specific skills in refining economics, linear programming, oil trading, logistics and finance, and auditing downstream activities.

This course is designed for executives from the downstream sector who require a global picture of all the technical, economic, financial, contractual & audits of downstream business activities.
Prerequisite :
Are allowed to take part to this certified training only applicants having:
A master’s degree or equivalent in engineering, economics, finance or legal with minimum 2 years working experience.
A bachelor’s degree with minimum of 5 years working experience.
Applicants must provide proof validating these prerequisites, e.g. (copy of engineering degree, Master, bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
Course Content
PART I: BACKGROUND AND FUNDAMENTALS OF THE OIL CHAIN (10 days)
Module 1: INTRODUCTION TO EXPLORATION-PRODUCTION

Reservoir engineering. Well intervention. Surface facilities.
Module 2.A: OVERVIEW OF OIL & GAS CHAIN

International energy scene. Upstream economics. Oil trading. Downstream economics.
Module 2.B: CASE STUDIES

Duration : 3 Days
Based on a set of up-to-date documents (reports, articles, contracts) related to refining business, participants work in sub-groups to prepare a presentation.
PART II: TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC FRAMEWORK OF DOWNSTREAM ACTIVITIES (20 days)
Module 3: FUNDAMENTALS OF REFINING & PETROCHEMICALS

Module 12: DOWNSTREAM AUDITING

Introduction to audit and financial reporting. Implementing a contractual auditing.
Module 13: PROFITABILITY ANALYSIS OF DOWNSTREAM PROJECTS

Economic criteria. Economic costs analysis. Equity profitability analysis and project funding. Risk analysis of downstream projects.
Learning Objectives
Attendees will be able to implement the following skills:
Explain the roles of the various refining units, their interdependence and the operating conditions of the main units.
Identify the economic issues and the main parameters influencing refinery profitability,
Design and use refinery management and optimization tools to increase productivity,
Identify the interactions between the petrochemical sector and other oil sectors.
Appreciate the various risks associated with trading petroleum products,
Analyzing the economic aspects of a logistics chain,
Analyze a company's accounting publications,
Analyze economic results and carry out sensitivity studies.

Case studies simulated on computers,
Analyze the main corporate financial statements issued by Oil & Gas companies.
Cost estimation of downstream projects.
Learning assessment
The assessment system is made up of two (02) elements:
An entry assessment, covering all topics treated during the training in order to measure the progress of the candidates and does not validate any modules.
In order to sanction the certification, at the end of each module from 1 to 13, participants must pass written/oral exams, lasting one hour and a half.
