  • This course provides a thorough understanding of the chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) method and its connection to the fundamental mechanisms of oil reservoir production. It also provides information for decision making in chemical EOR projects based on the presentation of the main displacement mechanisms, related screening criteria, dedicated simulation software and field cases.
Learning Objectives
  • Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
  • describe the recovery expectations from reservoirs under primary, secondary and tertiary methods,
  • describe the main Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) methods and explain the way they achieve the higher recovery factors,
  • explain the chemical EOR mechanisms and related screening criteria,
  • list the types of chemicals used in chemical EOR method and compare the way they affect oil recovery,
  • design and apply a chemical EOR method by using empirical, analytical and simulation tools and finally evaluate its related performance.
