IFP Training, leader in Oil & Gas industry professional training solutions is seeking a Process Lecturer to spearhead Process courses for the Refining & Chemicals department’s Middle Eastern clients. The Process lecturer reports to the Refining and Chemicals VP for Middle East.
The Process Lecturer is in charge of preparing and delivering training sessions, in his field of competencies, in line with IFP Training’s pedagogical policies. The candidate is to become a Certified IFP Training Lecturer. Upon certification, the Process Lecturer may be responsible for full courses or individual training sessions. The certified Process Lecturer actively participates in the creation of new courses as well as in the updating of existing courses, in close collaboration with IFP Training subject matter Experts.
Main tasks and duties
Delivering Lectures
The Process Lecturer is in charge of training sessions, implementing appropriate means, tools and methods to reach the pedagogical objectives of each sequence.
  • He introduces the objectives of the sequence
  • He helps trainees to identify the function of the sequence in the session course
  • He adapts implementation of pedagogical scenarios to trainees
  • He detects trainees difficulties and implements the best actions to overcome these difficulties
  • He assesses trainees as per the scenario and specifications of the course Manager
  • He provides feed-back and proposes any corrective action for optimization of the courses or for training improvement
Trainees Group Management
During the session, the Process Lecturer manages the group of trainees.
  • He is in charge of the health and safety of trainees which includes but may not be limited to reminding trainees of the appropriate safety instructions, ensures safety rules are followed, and taking any preventative measures
  • He takes the attendance of participants and appropriately reports any anomalies
  • He reports any issues to his manager and/or to the customer representatives
  • He keeps track of time and adheres to the schedule
  • He duly executes required administrative actions such as time sheets, quizzes, etc.
Project Management
The Process Lecturer may be requested to manage specific course projects. This includes:
  • Coordinating and organizing scheduling
  • Assessing HSE issues
  • Implementing IFP Training procedures
  • Assessing the suitability of materials
  • Assessing trainers mobilization
  • Ensuring logistics are properly addressed and optimized
  • Controlling costs especially during preparation
  • Reporting on profitability
  • Ensuring the contract is executed in compliance with its T and C
  • Guaranteeing the quality of deliverables
Business Development
As any employee of a service providing company, the Process Lecturer may be requested to contribute to business development. This includes:
  • Participating in customer meetings
  • Preparing presentations
  • Preparing technical proposals
  • Contributing to project estimations
  • Collecting and communicating any valuable commercial information
Conception & Preparation of Lectures (Certified Lecturers only)
Once certified, the Process Lecturer may be requested to contribute to the conception and preparation of new courses in coordination with IFP Training Subject Matter Experts. The Process Lecturer implements PEPS methods and will prepare pedagogic tools.
  • He proposes pedagogical objectives
  • He sets up technical content
  • He selects, updates or proposes new pedagogic tools, such as games, cases studies, exercises, lectures, documents, etc.
  • He prepares syllabi for lecturers
Process lecturer reports to the RC VP for Middle East.
During project execution he reports to the Operations Project Manager.
For course development he reports to Subject Matter Experts.
The ideal candidate holds an MsC in Engineering, with at least 5 years of experience with a reputable EPC contractor or within the operations of Refining, Petrochemicals and Chemicals. He is fluent in English. French and/or Arabic are a plus. He is highly motivated and possesses good interpersonal skills as well as pedagogical capabilities. He is strong interest in transmitting of knowledge and competencies and possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills. He is an organized, and methodic individual.
