Audience
  • Geologists, geophysicists and reservoir engineers involved in exploration projects, from basin analysis to prospect generation as well as newly-hired geoscientists without previous experience.
Purpose
  • This course provides a comprehensive, practical knowledge of basin exploration, analysis and modeling workflow.
  • To develop competencies and know-how via hands-on activities, case studies and simulations based on state-of-the-art techniques and methods for basin analysis, assessment and modeling.
  • To get familiar with the exploration workflow: from play assessment to prospect generation and related risk evaluation.
Learning Objectives
  • Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
  • understand analysis methods and techniques applied to basin exploration and be aware of related challenges,
  • analyze and interpret a dataset from a specific basin, and integrate the data in order to characterize the petroleum system,
  • learn how to build structural, stratigraphic and sedimentological models, and track back basin evolution in order to identify potential plays and generate related prospects,
  • characterize the evolution of a basin, and build the corresponding stratigraphic and thermal models,
  • contribute to reducing uncertainty and risks along the exploration process.
Prerequisite
  • This training program suits candidates with an engineering degree, a master degree in geosciences or an equivalent diploma, technicians involved in an upgrade process or who wish to validate their know-how in covered disciplines.
  • A previous experience is not mandatory but can facilitate the learning process.
